Poetry Sharing Part 1

A lot of people know me through my work as a photographer but not nearly as much as a writer. So parts of this blog will share different aspects of my creative life as a writer with this first look into poetry that I've done for those who haven't already read some of it on facebook. Each of the poems I am sharing from this blog are directly from my new book Leitmotif: Poetry (© Herbert Brown) which will be available online for your buying pleasure as soon as a little more tweaking is done. I hope you enjoy what I am sharing so far and will be back to post more.

So Be It ©
Be it as it truly is, I am not what I am.
Be it as it was, I am what I am going to be.
Be it as it will be, I am the same.
Be it as it can be, I am.

Wind Song ©
In the distant wind there is a song. Her voice singing to me for so long. I dream of her beauty every night; holding her hand, kissing her lips, fighting off every fright. The sound of her voice dances across my heart. Each time I look into her eyes it soothes the aching of being apart. Without a word or question I know I love her. When we spend time together in each others arms, I am like a fur in mother’s fur. I wake from a dream that’s too good to be true. As I turn in my bed, I tell her, “I dreamt of you.” She turns to me with a kiss and I take it gently then return it. As I wake again seeing that she is not there, it was just a dream I admit. Yet in the distance I see the rising sun and the gentle breeze carrying a faint song.

Smoking Black Roses ©
Smoking black roses put out by the fire. A burning sunset cooled by the grasp of night. A ship sailing strong eaten by the horizon. The sky above has a thousand lights; each have gone out a hundred years ago. The moon smiling down with its pretentious light. The birds flying on the harmony of their song deafened by the wind. A dark sky looms unending thorough the night. The wind giving life blows through this place not know where to go. The trees reaching to the heavens never finishing its ascent. The birds flocking together for a noble purpose as the south becomes their home. Smoking black roses floating in the stream heading towards the sea. In the sea nothing can burn. (03/19/95)

New Beginnings

A few months ago I started this blog but didn't do much with it at the time. Now that I am back on this vocal beast I am planning to post a lot more so keep a watch out for what there is to come and lots of creative madness to be shared no just about photography, but every other creative madness that I choose to express myself with. I hope you enjoy
